
French Bread Pizza Gratin Recipe

Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan assisted).

Cut the French bread in half lengthwise, then optionally cut each half in two to get individual portions. Place the pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Spread 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce on each piece of bread, distributing evenly to cover the surface.

Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and grated cheese over each piece. Then arrange the pepperoni (or chorizo) slices, pepper strips, red onion slices and sliced olives if using. Sprinkle with dried oregano, add a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of pepper.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the cheese is melted, golden and slightly crispy on the edges. Watch the cooking to prevent the bread from burning.

As soon as it comes out of the oven, serve immediately with a green salad for a complete and balanced meal.

- For an even crispier texture, lightly toast the bread under the grill before adding the topping.
- Ingredient variation: replace pepperoni with ham, tuna, grilled mushrooms or marinated vegetables.
- Vegetarian version: use only grilled vegetables like peppers, zucchini, eggplant or artichokes.
- Cheese variation: add fresh goat cheese or parmesan shavings.
