
Shrimp and Crab Pasta with Creamy Cajun Sauce

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain, reserving a ladle of cooking water, and set aside.

In a large hot pan, drizzle some olive oil. Season the shrimp with Cajun spices, salt and pepper. Sear them for 2-3 minutes on each side until they become pink and firm. Drizzle with lemon juice at the end of cooking. Set aside.

In the same pan, melt a knob of butter. Add the chopped shallot and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes over medium heat until fragrant. Incorporate the tomato paste and Cajun spices, mix for 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream and let simmer gently for 3-4 minutes. Add the grated parmesan while stirring until completely melted. Gently incorporate the drained crab meat.

Return the shrimp to the hot sauce. Add the drained pasta and mix gently to coat everything well. If the sauce is too thick, add a little pasta cooking water. Adjust seasoning.

Serve immediately, sprinkled with chopped fresh parsley or cilantro and some chili flakes. Accompany with fresh lemon wedges.

- Drain canned crab meat well to avoid excess moisture

- For a lighter version, replace cream with soy cream
